Maunsel House wedding photography | Janet and Andy

On a sunny Saturday back in August I had the absolute pleasure of shooting Janet and Andy's wedding at a place very special to me. Maunsel House in Somerset was, three years previous, where I married my beautiful wife Francesca. It was without doubt the best day ever. So when I heard I would be back to shoot a wedding there, I knew it would be a memorable one. Of all the stand out features at Maunsel, one is the chance to have the ceremony and wedding breakfast outside. There are relatively few venues that allow for this and it makes for a refreshing change of scene.

Photographing a Maunsel House wedding is like stepping into some sort of time warp, if you head into the house you will find a plethora of strange, interesting and eclectic items from spears to crocodiles! This is in part due to the owner, Sir Ben, who has collected a wealth of paintings, artefacts and the like which adorn every wall in the house and make for interesting viewing at every turn!

Amusingly a notice had also been put up warning of the 'beast' that had been spotted and informing guests not to wander off at night. Unfortunately, no big cats were sighted whilst we were in residence!

It was fantastic to wander the grounds during the couple shoot with a relaxed and besotted Janet and Andy who are two of the loveliest people you'd ever meet and are just perfect together.

After speeches, dancing and antics outside it was sadly time for me to leave. I am really pleased to share the highlights from this wonderful wedding in Somerset with you. Enjoy.

St Donats Castle Wedding - Vanessa and Ed

St Donats Castle wedding bride and groom kiss
One of my absolute favourite venues is St Donat's Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan. It is set in a spectacular location and has tier upon tier of wonderful gardens, with the added bonus of having access to the sea. I had the pleasure of shooting there for the second time a few months ago with Vanessa and Ed, and it was simply amazing. The day was relaxed, fun and full of laughter. Vanessa looked simply stunning and Ed looked very dapper in his military Number Ones. I'm sure military grooms take longer to get ready than the girls, but with all that gear to polish and prepare it's no surprise!

These guys were fantastic to work with and could hardly stop smiling all day. With so many locations to choose from at St Donat's and an awesome couple to work with, it made the taking the couple photographs the easy part! When Ed decided that getting his feet wet would be a good idea when we got down to the beach, I could see from the glint in his eye he wasn't going to be the only one going in... and so played out the classic sequence you'll see below.

Enough from me, time to sit back and and enjoy this selection of wedding photographs from Vanessa and Ed's day, because pictures say it so much better than words.

Roughmoor Farm - Cowparsley wedding | Alex and Matt

Everyone hopes for good weather on their wedding day, but did you know that rain is actually a sign of good luck, growth and fertility? Alex and Matt had glorious sunshine for the most part with some very considerately timed thunderstorms which meant they had all the associated luck, but no one got too wet! The day started with bridal prep at Roughmoor Farm with a very relaxed Alex and Co, then we were off to the wedding ceremony held in Taunton at St Georges Catholic church where Matt cut a fine figure in his number ones. The reception back at Roughmoor was wonderful: garden games (including skittles and coconut shy), a brilliant ceilidh, late night outdoor hog roast and dancing under the stars. A beautiful setting perfectly paired with a couple so very much in love. Enjoy these select pictures from Alex and Matt's day.
